Barely two days after the ban on presidential campaign was lifted, Labour Party (LP),  support groups have been advised to work as a team for the victory of the party at all levels.

The governorship candidate of the party in Kaduna State, Hon Jonathan Asake, gave the advise in Kaduna on Thursday, during  the official unveiling by the party of Marrison Ikpeamaeze as the state coordinator of all support groups in the state.

He stressed the need for the support groups to work for the success of the  presidential, governorship, national and state assembly elections harmoniously.

The stakeholders meeting which was attended by about 60 support groups also had the deputy governorship candidate, Rt. Hon Bashir Aliyu, state party chairman, Auwal Tafoki, the three senatorial flag bearers, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.

A press release made available to journalists in Kaduna, signed by Asake’s media aide, James Swam, quoted the gubernatorial candidate urging the support groups to  work in harmony for the overall goal of winning the 2023 elections.

“The purpose of this meeting is to harmonise all support groups in the state under one umbrella so as to be organised, focused and to achieve victory for our candidates.

“Labour Party has so many support groups. Before now, support groups have been operating individually, but from today, you will work as a team,” he

said.

Asake urged the various support groups to sacrifice now so that tomorrow will be better for everyone, saying the country was in a bad shape and needed leaders that would fix it. He said only Labour Party, LP,  had the blueprint to make the country work again.

The support groups coordinator, Morrison Ikpeamaeze, said he was humbled by the overwhelming trust reposed in him and called for unity and understanding.

He added that, “if these contestants have agreed that this is what they want, I believe we should work with them”.
