Placard-carrying Women in their hundreds yesterday,  stormed the popular Ahmadu Bello Way, protesting the declaration of All Progressives Congress (APC’s) Uba Sani as winner of March 18 governorship election in Kaduna State.

The women mostly in black attires symbolizing sorrowful mood, chanted different slogans calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rescind its decision, which  they described as misappropriating victory and mandate of the people.

Coordinator of the protests, Prince Gbenga Owonaiye addressing newsmen, said that all records at the disposal of people in the state and beyond, pointed to the fact that INEC in connivance with the ruling party manipulated the governorship result, assigning more and undeserved votes to Uba Sani at the detriment of majority of electorate whom he noted, voted Isa Ashiru.

“This is a dark day for us in Kaduna State and Nigeria in general having to witness yet another misplacement of people’s mandates who came out massively to vote for change and new era in the state.

“All available facts at our disposal have clearly shown that the declared results did not reflect and represent true picture of what the people voted for.

“The figures from Kudan and other places were without doubts doctored to suit the rigging strategy of APC in cohort with INEC in order to deny the people of Kaduna State their long awaited mandate of voting out bad and repressive APC adminstration which has pauperized the people beyond description.

“But unfortunately the dream of our people was truncated by these people reminiscent of a broad day robbery.

“We are calling on all those  concerned to prevail on INEC to please reverse their stand and declare Isa Ashiru Kudan as the authentic winner of Kaduna State governorship contest,” he appealed.
