Wike warns Rivers against ‘return to Egypt’

Ahead of the March 19, re-run National and State Houses of Assembly elections, the Governor of Rivers State Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has warned the electorate against the dangers of returning to Egypt.
“You should not make the mistake to return to Egypt, since God in His infinite mercy has delivered ‎ you from bondage. You should therefore vote all PDP candidates in the forthcoming re-run elections, for peace, progress and development of our dear state, and not those, who will deceive you.”
Governor Wike issued the warning to the state electorate thursday in Port Harcourt, during the ground breaking ceremony of the Rumuwoji, Mile I, market, Port Harcourt  assuring that the project will be constructed and completed within the specified time, as contained in the agreement.
He noted that the reconstruction of the Mile I market was in fulfillment of his promise to them, during his electioneering campaigns, affirming his government would accomplish all its campaign promises to‎ to the people.
The governor further assured, that government would acquire more spaces, to accommodate more people, and also disclosed, it would factor in the interest of the host community during stall sharing, to reciprocate to their kind gesture of donating the land free to state government.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Housing, Barr. Emma Okah regretted that the market in question was burnt by fire on December 17, 2014, night, without the traders being able to save their wares, and yet the then government did nothing to alleviate the traders problems, but for the  intetvention of then federal government under Dr Goodluck Jonathan.
“We thank God today, because this project has ceased to be a political tool in the hands of political detractors, but has become an economic and empowerment project, for our people”, the commissioner observed
Earlier in his address, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Samuel Soni Ejeku, noted the market when fully completed would provide economic revival and infrastructural rejuvenation.
Chief Ejeku stated that the market had since inception suffered several fire incidents, and a‎ppealed to government to protect this one from infetno.
The Chairman of the construction firm, Moner Construction Company (MCC), Senator Azuta Mbata, promised to complete the project on schedule, and according to specifications.
Senator‎ Mbata disclosed that MCC was to do the job strictly on Public Private Partnership, business relationship , for which the government provided the land while the MCC the funds.
