A widow, Mrs Mary Ugochukwu, an indigene of Ifite village, Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been thrown out of her matrimonial home by her husband’s family following the death of her spouse.
This is coming barely two weeks after a childless widow was assaulted and paraded naked in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State for allegedly killing her husband with sex.
It was gathered that the widow who married in the same community, was sent packing two days after the burial of her husband.
Information has it that the family members of her late husband, identified as Nwokedi family, threw her out and locked up the house because of her childlessness.
According to a source, the widow who has been rendered homeless, was sighted sleeping on bare floor at midnight.
When contacted, the Chairman of the Village, Chief Mike Ezemaduka declined  comment on the issue, and refered newsmen to a non-existent President General, even though the community currently has none.
Efforts to get the reactions of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo failed as he didn’t  respond to phone calls nor reply a message sent to him.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said the command had not received the report or any complaints on the issue.
He gave assurances that the command would take steps to investigate the matter.
It was learnt that a human rights group has visited the widow with a view to taking up the matter and ensure justice prevails.
