The official visit to Bauchi today by President Muhammadu Buhari to perform the official commissioning ceremony of an Ultra-modern newly built Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Hospital has been postponed due to his trip to Gambia.
A statement Monday by the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Bello Shehu Ilelah attributed the postponement of the visit by the President to his crowded schedules.
Alhaji Bello Shehu Ilelah urged people to exercise patience on the postponement of President Muhammadu Buhari visit to Bauchi, saying a new date for the presidential visit would be announced in due course.                                                                                                                                             President Muhammed Buhari, along with some African leaders under the auspices of Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS are billed for Gambia, the Senegal capital to persuade out-going President Yahaya Jamme to accept the results of his country’s recent elections.
The President was earlier scheduled to commission Tuesday a NAF Hospital in Bauchi considered of having good proximity to conflict areas of Northeast for prompt treatment of live threatening operational injuries, and to serve as a referral hospital to the force.
According to the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal Christopher Emeka Okoye, NAF hospital in Bauchi is expected to render quality medical services to its personnel and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria generally, especially those engaged in the North East Sub-region of the country.
He explained that the counter insurgency operations in the North East give rise to the need to evacuate casualties to far away distant places like Kaduna where there was the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital and the NAF hospital at the base.
Wing Commander Christopher Okoye said however that with the NAF hospital now in Bauchi, evacuating casualties to those distant places for quality healthcare delivery will be greatly reduce, thus aiding their quick recovery and survival.
