Many are still in disbelief on why President Mohammadu Buhari, the Vice President, Prof. Osibajo and the national leader of All Progressives Party (APC), Alhaji Bola Tinubu were absent at the flag off of campaign for the party’s candidate in Ondo state, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu.
However, the national chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun appealed to the citizens of Ondo State to vote massively for the candidate of the party, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, in the forthcoming election to ensure that the state joins other APC states in the country.
Addressing the rally in Akure, Oyegun, made the appeal at the flag-off saying, party supporters must work hard and ensure adequate commitment towards the victory of the party in the forthcoming election.
The APC chairman also said at the campaign rally, which had about seven APC governors mostly from the North in attendance, would not be complete unless the people voted en masse for the party’s candidate.
He said the presence of many dignitaries at the rally showed the importance of the state to the nation and relevance of Akeredolu to the party.
He also presented the party’s flag to Akeredolu at the event.
Also, the governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, urged aggrieved members of the party to bury their hatchet and work with the party in order to achieve the dream of taking over in Ondo State.
The state party chairman, Mr Isaac Kekemeke, said the state would soon join the train of progressive governments.
The APC national vice chairman, South-West, Mr Pius Akinyelure, said Ondo was tired of the PDP-led government.
The APC governorship candidate, Akeredolu, promised to ensure job creation through agriculture and industrialisation. He reiterated his pledge to pay workers salaries as at when due if elected governor.
Some aggrieved members of the party, especially supporters of Engr. Olusegun Abraham, who came second during the primary election and some senators were absent at the event.
