We’ll sustain effort in wiping out insurgents in North East – GOC
By; Buhari B. Bello, Jos.
The out-going General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigeroan Army,  Jos, Gen. Hassan Umaru said that the Army’s effort in wiping out the insurgents in the North East shall be sustained even as the Army has met the December dead line set by the presidency.
Gen. Umaru made this known at the handing over ceremony to his successor, Brigadier Gen. Mohammed Sani Aliyu.
The two Generals encouraged officers to be more united in fighting the insurgents, urging them not to allow sentiments to becloud their judgment.
“The on-going battle against the insurgents will be worn only by our collective efforts. We must continue to pray for each other and shun indiscipline in discharging our duty”, he said.
The 3 Division Officers were also advised not to turn their back on any junior officer misbehaving urging them “ to take seriously the welfare of the junior officers working under them as they are the frontline Soldiers“.
There has been a wave of transfer in the Nigeria Army recently, as Brigadier Gen M. S. Aliyu and Lt Gen. Hassan Umaru happen to have criss-crossed their Commands.
While Gen. Umaru is resuming in Maduguri  as the new Theatre Commander, Tactical Headquarters, (Operation Lafia Dolle), Brig. Aliyu is transferred from 21 Brigade, Maiduguri  to Jos to serve as the new GOC.
