Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has declared that his administration will ensure completion of only people oriented projects initiated but abandoned by past administrations in the state.
He made this known at Baban Tunga area of Tafa local council area of the state while commissioning a 40 – bed capacity women and children Primary Health Centre.
The facility was initiated by the Kure administration but completed by Hon. Lado Abubakar Suleja, a current member of the House of Representatives as his constituency project.
Governor Bello explained that his administration has resolved to reassess all abandoned projects across the state. He said only those that have direct bearing on the well-being of the citizens would be considered for attention.
He said projects initiated by past administrations in the state which could impact on the people in adding value to their lives would be given priority attention in completing them.
Governor Bello singled out the projects initiated by the late former Governor of the state, Abdulkadir A. Kure as those to receive such priority attention.
He explained that the decision to complete such abandoned projects was without any personal bias but for the general good of the state.
“Our decision is devoid of partisan politics but are policy driven, aimed at ensuring that only projects with direct and positive impact on the people are completed for the good of the people”.
The hospital project was initially started by the past administrations but abandoned for many years before the Lawmaker representing Gurara/Suleja/Tafa federal constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly took it over and completed it.
He noted that because the Kure administration had laid the foundation for some far reaching, laudable projects which are people oriented, the present administration would leverage on the foundation laid and ensure that such projects were brought to fruition for the benefits of the teaming population.
“There were some laudable, people centred projects initiated by late Governor Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure but abandoned. We have taken them over for completion. It is about the people and not politics because through such projects, some solid foundations were laid. All we are doing is to build on them for posterity sake”.

Governor Bello said his administration had acknowledged the intervention by Hon. Lado and has identified itself with the efforts of the Lawmaker in completing the health centre which he noted will complement government’s determination of constructing a Primary Healthcare Centre in each of the 274 wards across the state.

Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services in the state, Dr. Mustapha Jibril assured that the Bello led administration would construct at least 74 Primary Healthcare Centres in parts of the state this year.
He said work on the upgrading of some health centres have been completed in some General Hospitals in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Hon. Lado Abubakar Suleja had said his major concern was driven by the serious need to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates in his constituency which informed the completion of the health facility.
