By; BAYO AKAMO, Ibadan.
Oyo State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Benjamin Akanmu, has hinted that Christian bodies in the state are ready to have their schools back and give them quality improvement.
Pastor Akanmu who dropped this hint during a chat with newsmen in Ibadan declared that Christian bodies in the state are ready to improve the quality of education in the state.
According to the CAN Chairman, there is need for the Oyo state government to release all the schools in the state to their original owners unconditionally with the government maintaining its function of making policies and curriculum for the schools.
“We are ready to have the schools back and give them quality improvement. We are also ready to partner with government at all levels in other developmental strides embarked upon” he said.
Pastor Benjamin Akanmu advised that Oyo state government should be willing to take back the teachers that may not want to enroll in the services of the original owners of the schools, saying, “we assure that the return of schools to us will not debar us from contributing to the development of the state in any form’’.
Pastor Akanmu pointed out that if such could be implemented, there will be room for improvement in the quality of education, community development and peaceful co-existence in the state.
On the on-going face off between the Oyo state government and the labour union in the state over outstanding salaries, he advocated for dialogue as a way of finding lasting solution to end the current crises between them.
