Facility managers in Nigeria have been tasked to transit into a circular economy by applying the principles they learnt from True Leaders Training Series.

Executive Director of Circular Economy Innovation Partnership (CEIP), Dr. Natalie Beinisch, gave the advice at a True Leaders Training Series workshop which was organized by Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre (LBSSC) in partnership with Circular Business Platform.

The initiative was supported by Netherlands Enterprise Agency and implemented by CEIP.

“We are happy to partner with LBS Sustainability Centre to engage critical stakeholders in waste management space to rethink, recover and repurpose waste with the sole aim of harnessing the possibility of a circular economy to eliminate waste, recirculate resources and regenerate our environment,” Beinisch said.

She expressed optimism in the programme being the beginning of the journey to achieve a waste-free society.

The programme trained facility managers through the sequence of events, culminating in 30 executives completing the course in Lagos.

The series consisted of a web-forum, an executive workshop, and a business mixer forum which offered various engagements to the participants.

The workshop which was held on the topic, “Leading Impact Through the Circular Economy” took place at Lagos Business School on 3rd May and was wrapped up on Friday 5th May 2023.

Organizers of the event expressed the view that improper management of waste has led to significant public health and environmental hazards. “To address this”, they explained, “a programme was developed and delivered to support the transition from linear economy to a circular one that maximises the use of resources by reducing, reusing, and recycling.”
