The Federal Government has concluded necessary arrangements to bring back stranded Nigerians from  war-torn Sudan.

According to a source, Nigerian Mission in Sudan has compiled about 4,000 names of stranded students and families willing to evacuate the crisis-riden Sahara nation, adding that an aircraft to be used for the airlift was being sorted for.

Deadly confrontation  ensued penultimate week between the Sudanese Army headed by Abdel Fattah alBurham and Mohammed Hamden Daglo, Commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF)

The two warring factions have failed to respect a 72-hour truce brokered by international organizations as more than 400 people were said to have been killed in the war.

United Nations (UN) feared that the fighting would worsened the country’s humanitarian crisis as more and more  families are left without water and electricity in Khartoum and other affected cities.

Great chunk of the Arab nation’s population had already fled into neighboring Chad without an adequate arrangements for food and shelters.

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa has over a million of her citizens living permanently in Sudan, though only an insignificant number are said to be caught in the midst of the infighting between the two generals.

Analysts feared that days ahead could be unpredictably disastrous with failure of the truce and either side unwilling to explore diplomatic option to end the battle.

United States, United Kingdom, France and Germany are among nations who are already evacuating their diplomats and  embassies’ staff to avoid being caught unawares in the raging war.

Chairman, CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa said she was already in contact with Nigerians and the nation’s mission in Sudan for update on the situation of citizens trapped in the crisis, adding that the security challenge was the cause of delay to avoid endangering lives of citizens due to consistent bombing of wide areas by the Sudanese army.

She stated that everything humanly possible would be done to ensure a safe return of Nigerians from Sudan.
