The Anti-Corruption advocates for the promotion of Good Governance, Wadata Media and Advocacy Centre (WAMAC) an NGO based in Abuja with the support of MacArthur Foundation, has commended, Kano State goveyrnment over shutting down of 16 illegal health institutions in the state.

In a statement signed by its Team Leader, Zubair Abdurra’uf Idris, dated  July 17, 2022. WAMAC also noted with great concerns, in it’s Anti-Corruption Radio Programme on Freedom radio ‘DANDUMA’ on the 25th May 2021, the nefarious activities and proliferation of illegal Health institutions across Kano State.

“Despite all the evidences by the Investigative Journalist at Freedom Radio trained by WAMAC in the radio programme, bureaucratic roadblock has slowed down prompt action by the government. However, ‘ it’s better late, than never.’

“WAMAC therefore, salutes the courage of the Kano State Ministry of health for rising to the occasion to salvage the society from quack Health personnel.

“We urge Kano State Government to be part of vanguards in the promotion of Good Governance and the fight against corruption by blocking all aspects of corrupt practices as investigated by the ‘Dan Duma radio programme on allegations of corruption in it’s various institutions.

“Our organization with the support of MacArthur Foundation, has in the last four years, embarked on Investigative Journalism through Anti-Corruption Programme and promotion of Good Governance using local languages on twelve radio stations across the six Geo-political zones in Nigeria,” the group said.
