Vandal Gets 1 and Half Year Jail for Stealing Kaduna Electric Cable

A vandal; Yahaya Idris caught at Tashar Yari in Zaria was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court in Zaria and sentenced to one and half year jail term.
The prosecutor Inspector Sarki Abdurrahman read the charges as follows; trespassing into Kaduna electric Transformer and stealing 4 meters incomer cable valued at N200, 000 and sold it to one Alhaji who is at large at the rate of N20, 000.
In his ruling the Chief Magistrate Umaru Bature found the vandal Yahaya Idris guilty of the charges against him as follows; for criminal trespass he has been sentenced to 6 months in prison with option of N5, 000 fine, in addition to that he was charged for theft and sentenced to one year imprisonment without an option or fine.He was also charged N200, 000 for compensation of stolen cable or with an option of one and half year imprisonment to run consecutively.
Reacting to the judgment, Kaduna Electric through the Head, Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi commended the judiciary for their efforts and prompt adjudication of cases before the courts and assured them of maximum cooperation from Kaduna Electric at all times. He also hoped that this sentence would serve as deterrent to would be vandals.
