Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Monday Ebong Uko while taking journalists round the facilities said it was part of state government effort at promoting sporting activities in the state.

Giving the place a face lift with standard facilities is also expected to reduce the demand for the use of the Nest of Champion otherwise known as Chief Godswill Akpabio International which is designed for international sporting competition, the Commissioner explained.
Unlike before, Uyo Township Stadium is hoped to generate more revenues to the state as guest, including VIPs room with best of facilities have been provided for a fee to any visiting sport officials who wishes to lodge there during any match.
Among other facilities at the stadium include four new flood lights in and outside for night matches, 47 toilets to provide convenience to players and fans as well as officials and change or rest rooms for players and VIPs during match.
The stadium will also continue to remain open to host other events of the state other than sports, Mr. Uko said.
