A leading farmer in Ikara Community, Malam Suleiman Aliyu has advised farmers to use good and quality seeds on their farms during planting to avoid losses.
He gave the advise, during a Soya Beans and Maize Green Field Day organized by the Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd and SAHEL Consultant from Neitherland at demonstration farms in Makarfi and Ikara local government areas of Kaduna State.
Aliyu said, Nagari Seed for many decades, has been at the forefront of providing good seeds to Nigerian farmers.
He used the occasion to warn farmers who make it habitual to buy grains as seeds to stop the bad habit, for their own good.
In his remarks the Director of Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Boman Abbah said the Soya Beans and Maize Green Field Day is the fist stage of farm inspection.
Represented by Engineer Tachio, Boman also assured farmers that, the company will continue to provide good seeds that will make them witness bumper harvests at the end of the season.
The director advised farmers to come through associations in order to benefit from its corporate social responsibility.
Also, the representative of Sahel Consultant, Mr. Ilesanmi Pupa who was represented by Mr. George Isaac, said the Soya Beans and Maize Green Field Day is to showcase the level of achievements made so far from the day one of the plantation.
He charged farmers to shift from their local ways of planting in order to meet their farm produce needs by embracing new technologies on their various farms.
According to him, Sahel Consultant is supporting seed companies to make farmers realise the benefits attached to modern farming technologies.
Earlier, the Extension Agent Officer, Sani Yahaya enlightened the farmers on how the plantation began from the land preparation to its present state,
Yahaya advised farmers to always ask questions on what they don’t know or understand on new farming technologies, particularly climate change and modern farming techniques.
