Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has appealed to its members to always uphold professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities, saying it would not accept unruly behaviours.

The congress of the union held weekend in a communique commended its leadership for the positive roles it has been playing, especially the brutalization of a member by the Rapid Response Squad of the state police command.

Congress similarly commended the State Working Committee of the union for establishing the ethics and disciplinary committee to checkmate abuse of the profession by members with a view to move the union to an unprecedented height.

The congress also called on the state government to examine the rampant cases of kidnappings in Bauchi state with all seriousness it deserved and urged security agencies to rise up to the security challenges bedeviling the state.

It commended the effort of the federal and state governments in curtailing security challenges facing the country generally, and appealed to the public to help security agencies with useful information towards curtailing the nefarious activities of hoodlums.

Members rose from the congress with a commendation to the Bauchi state government for its pledge to reconstruct the state secretariat of union, in addition to the continuous support being rendered to journalists in the state.
