The Acting Registrar National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS), Professor Mohammed Shafi’u Abdullahi has called on Zazzau Emirate to play a proactive role toward making Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) best African university in research and development.
He made the call while presenting an award he received from  Morocco University from King of Morocco to the Emir, Alhaji Shehu Idris at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna State on Monday.
The award is tagged: Honourary Award of Excellence on Promoting Arabic Education in Nigeria.”

According to him, there is the need for the emirate to establish an advisory committee to ABU that would work toward making the university centre of excellence in all fields of research and development not only in Nigeria but in Africa.
Abdullahi, who is the traditional Wakilin Makarantan Zazzau said: “This committee, if established, will seek to promote research and development as well as science education.

“That’s what make many nations great, we must therefore borrow a leave, if we want the university to be supplying the country with breakthrough research findings”.

“This, I believe will generate a lot of money to the university apart from making it more famous globally as it will certainly propel technological advancement,” he said”.

The Acting Registrar solicited forgiveness from the Emir for not seeking permission before traveling to Morocco for the award.
He said his name was nominated from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the award and that was what prompted him to attend the ceremony.

Professor Abdullahi said other two recipients of the award included a businessman from Lagos, who has been sponsoring students to study different courses in Morocco and a former Ambassador to Morocco, who stayed in many European countries.

Responding, the Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris described the award as a well deserved one and appreciated the recipient for what he term as gigantic work toward promoting Arabic in Nigeria.
He said the award was not only meant for the recipient alone but the entire Zazzau emirate, Kaduna State and Nigeria in general.
