Key Management and Technical Officials of Union Bank Sports Club have resolved to get better results in National Table Tennis and Hockey Sports in the year 2018.
Following a brain-storming session Friday, they came to the conclusion that Union Bank would aim at winning all national titles considering the enormous moral and financial backing from the Stallion Management.
Disclosing to New Nigerian Sports at their Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos Sports Complex, Head Coach of Union Bank Table Tennis Team, Samson Ajayi described 2017 as very encouraging, but was emphatic that sweeping all titles in 2018 would be their priority since they have the right facilities and motivation to excel. Head Coach of the Hockey Team, Tunde Odedokun also sounded very positive ahead of the new year.
Ajayi was very forthcoming in his reflection and projection: “The truth is that we have a management’s order to get other quality players after we got the sensational Aruna Quadri that we are all proud of. We are on the right track again considering the tremendous progress of the likes of Emmanuel Augustine, Azeez Solanke, Alimat Ayinla, Adeyinka Ahmed, Bose Odusanya, Aregbesola Limota amongst others in the 2017 editions of the Asoju Oba Table Tennis and National Open Championships that we confirmed our being No. 1 in the country. Beside we have gained tactically and technically in various local and international build up games played in Edo, Ogun, Kwara States and Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
“We cannot thank our management enough over the recent opportunity of testing our players against Republic of Benin National Team in Cotonou less than two weeks ago. Our players showed class and we will keep working hard to realise our target of being the best in not only Nigeria but Africa in general. There is lot of hope as far as 2018 is concerned”, concluded Ajayi who was evidently excited over his wards’ dominance of the Beninoise National Team in various categories.
