The remains of late Mrs. Theresa Ivo Umahi, step mother of Governor David Nweze Umahi have been interred at her husband’s country home, Umunaga Uburu amidst testimonies of life well lived.

The internment took place  on Saturday.

In his message at the burial ceremony, Governor David Nweze Umahi thanked dignitaries at the ceremony for coming to share with them in their moment of grief.

He commended support organizations for the solidarity and pledged to continue to deliver the goods to Ebonyi people.

“Let me with all heart of gratitude, thank Ebonyi people, the wake was very wonderful and I am excited.

“I want to thank you very highly, I am very sure that our father, Pa Joseph Umahi, our mother, Margaret and Mrs. Theresa will be glad that the peace they left behind is still in abundance in the family.”

Governor Umahi charged the Umahi family to remain united in order to maintain existing peace in the family.

“The family of Joseph Umahi is a very unique one, we have our trouble, but we have a binding force and that is our father and our mothers who laid the foundation for the peace.

“I want to urge every family member to know that we owe our father peace in the family and whatever anyone sows he will reap, always count your blessings, coming into this family that God has laid the foundation is the first blessing.”

The governor described his late step mother as a kind hearted woman who sacrificed her comfort for the good of mankind.

“This our mother that we are witnessing her transition today, when she joined the family, she automatically became younger sister to our late mother, there is nothing like half brother or half sister, we are one people.”

In a tribute, son to the deceased, Mr. Marshall Nwaeze Umahi said his late mother lived a sacrificial life while alive and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.

“Mama, you indeed lived a sacrificial life believing that life would be no more one day as it could be likened to a candle light.

“You lived a charitable life, touching lives, following peace with all men and women as if it was the only day you had on earth.”

In a sermon, the District Head of Christ Ascension Church, Egugwu Umunaga Uburu, Reverend Levi Diegbe admonished Christians to always live rightly in order to merit eternity on transition.

Late Mrs. Theresa Ivo Umahi died at the age of 80 years.
