Uhonmora Progressive Union Worldwide has warned strongly against encroachment on lands earmarked as belonging to Uhonmora Secondary Commercial School.
The warning was handed down at the weekend during the Inauguration congress of the Uhonmora Progressive Union Worldwide when new executives were sworn in to pilot the affairs of the Association for the next three years.
Speaking after the inauguration Congress, the President, Uhonmora Progressive Union Worldwide, Comrade Ikharo Attah said, “ when we visited the school on Friday and interacted with the two Principals for the senior and Junior secondary classes, we observed noticeable signs of encroachments and pressure on all edges of the school borders. We want to make it very clear that no one should encroach on the school land”
He further stated that , “ those arguing that the schoolLand does not not extend to the main road should stop it. In the 1980s we worked on our teachers’ farms in that area where the slopes stretching to the main road. We all must protect that land from encroachments. No one knows tomorrow. The government may want to upgrade the school or establish a tertiary institution in this community. We can use part of the school land for the purpose”
In his speech , Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly, Honourable Blessing Agbebaku promised to ensure more infrastructural development in the school.
He promised to have more blocks of classrooms constructed in the school to ensure that the environment is conducive for teaching and learning .
The speaker said he was extremely shocked at the level of dilapidation in some buildings when he visited the school last year. This according to him was why he decided to pay much attention to the school.
