Troops intercept, kill bandits in Kaduna

Troops from 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna intercepted armed bandits at Pambegwa village in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna killing two of the bandits.
Some state governments in North Central and North West recently met to form a joint military task force to help fight cattle rustlers and armed bandits operating in the area and recently about 4000 cows were recovered from rustlers’ den in some of the areas.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director Public Relations of 1 Division, Colonel Usman Abdul and made available to newsmen, he said items recovered from the bandits include; 1 Toyota Hilux with Registration Number ABC 101 HM, A Pump Action Rifle with 14 Rounds of live Cartridge, Sum of Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira (N310,000:00) cash and a Handset.
Similarly, in another statement the 1 Division Nigerian Army said it has intensified an operation code named Operation “SHARAN DAJI” in the North-West and part of North Central States.
The operation is targeted at flushing out criminals especially armed bandits and cattle rustlers that have been terrorizing rural communities.
Colonel Usman said the  General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade on his operational assessment of some of the areas of operations commended the effort of the troops so far.
He emphasized on the protection of human rights and strict adherence to the rules of engagement.
On the overall assessment of the operation, the General Officer Commanding explained that since the commencement of the operation over 6 months ago, a lot of successes have been recorded against these misfits.
“We will not rest on our oars until all the bandits are completely eliminated. Hundred of cattles have been recovered, while many Bandits have been killed or arrested and several bandits’s camps were also destroyed,” the commandant said.
