It was a colourful celebration with Group Captain  B. O. Mosugu (rtd) who marked his 80th birthday anniversary.

Friends and well wishers trooped into NAF Base Osebeqin Mosugu Hall AFIT in Kaduna to join him in the beautiful celebration.

Also, Oluseyi Petirin Hall at Base Officer’s Mess which was venue for the reception of hosting  guests was filled with family and friends to celebrate with the celebrants on the fateful day, Wednesday   February, 22 in Kaduna.

The celebrant, Group Captain B O Mosugu (rtd), who celebrated his thanksgiving in a church service, expressed  appreciation to honour his maker for the grace God has bestowed upon him.

He was honoured with words of goodwill messages from friends and family members

Benjamin Osebequin Akinyele Mosugu was born to Gabriel Olawumi Shaaba Mosugu in 1943 at Ogori.

He had his primary education at the village up to primary seven.

He said, his eyes were set on the sky at his exit from primary seven, by 1957, secondary school admissions were secured to  Odogbolu Grammar School  and St. Paul’s College Zaria, whose Principal, Mr P.J Johnson (a white man), came all the way to Ogori to select eligible candidates for two years running.

It was nostalgic leaving the village setting and going on a two-day train journey from Ogori to Oshogbo, to Zungeru, to Kaduna before Zaria at age 16 in January 1959.

On one hand, it was a relief, no peer pressure, no errands or bullying, on the other hand, there were reflections on the loss of a serene bubbling, homogeneous community living with tranquility.

At the time, the principal, late Chief S. A Adeniyi offered him the rare privilege of serving as head boy from January, and he also served as the litmus test towards joining the military.

Barely into the school’s first term break, he led the school’s athletics contingent to Kaduna for the Northern Nigeria Secondary Schools Games and thereafter, moved to the Air Force Base Kaduna to join the Nigerian Air Force as an officer cadet (O/Cdt) in April 1964.

Among the goodwill message he received, was one from Bethel Baptist Church, Kaduna who sees him as an asset and point of reference to the growth of the church.

He has been a source of inspiration to many  in the society and the body of Christ.

In the ministry of the church he has served  in church council, church nominating committee, Men Missionary Union, mission and evangelism committee, pastor church committee, security management board, stewardship committee among others.

Apart from his service in the circular world, he  made himself available to assist  young children to get admission into  higher institutions as part of his contributions to humanity.

The celebrant joined the body of Christ, Bethel Baptist Church Kaduna in 1971, when he was residing st the NAF Base,  due to the proximity of the church. He  has  remained a dedicated and outstanding member in the mist of the church.

With his exposure  and Christian upbringing, when you see him from a distance, he appears tough and unapproachable, but over the years, they came to know him for who he truly was,  a disciplined and approachable person.

However, as a model and a mentor to many, he has served his country and he is still in the service to humanity.

He hails from Ogori,  an autonomous community, part of Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State, a border town with Edo State at the Southern part of Kogi State.

A National Achievers Award of year 2015 was conferred on him at the annual Ovia Osese Festival in December, 2016.

He is a member of the Ogori Hall of Fame year 2015 (HOF 2015).

For him, coming in and going out as a result of frequent invitations from the citadel of learning AFIT which he nurtured 30 years ago as the head, is still nostalgic.

The original infrastructures and platforms made to specifications and used for an array of trainings have stood the test of time.

In addition, massive continuous upgrading is being brought to bear to meet the accreditation requirements by NBTE and NUC.

Looking back to  2002 when he joined RANA Association till date, it has been 20 years of societal togetherness through which bonding and contentment arose.

By February 2003, he was 60 years old, in year 2013, he clocked 70 years by 22 February, 2023 he became an octogenarian.

“The atmosphere, the relationship and fellowship therein (especially in the last two decades) should be rated as quite intriguing no serious hassling but ageing gracefully.

“However, God continuously provided the pension monthly upkeep which was enough to meet monthly exigencies, one being frugal,” he said.

In addition, the inclusiveness and regular financial support extended to Pa. Daddy Osebi Mosugu by the children while still alive, are enormous.

The primary focus on health-related daily living becomes more  order of the day.

Osebequin the octogenarian and serving as his God given pillar and anchor is his wife, Mrs. Balosy Olubunmi Mosugu, supported by four children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, two stepchildren and seven grandchildren.

Happy birthday Group Captain (rtd) Mosugu mni, Msc, FBIM, FNIPR, FIBEN, FIIC, FIMC , God bless your new age.
