Tragedy: Six Ibadan Poly students, non teaching staff feared dead in lone auto crash

Tragedy struck in Ibadan when no fewer than Six students and non teaching staff of The Polytechnic, Ibadan were feared killed in a lone auto crash along Oyo/Ibadan Expressway.
New Nigerian gathered that the auto crash which involved a Hummer Bus of the Quantity Surveying Department of the institution conveying some students and staff of the department to Oyo, occurred around 6.00 pm on Monday at Omotunde Village along Oyo road.
It was alleged that the auto crash was as a result of the sudden burst of the 18-seater bus tyre, resulting in the vehicle summersaulting, thereby killing four of the passengers on the spot while two died later at the Adeoyo State hospital.
According to the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp, (FRSC), Mr Yusuff Salami, three FRSC patrol vehicles were deployed to the scene to convey some of the injured persons to the Oyo Town General Hospital for treatment.
Information was sketchy as at the time of filing this report on the actual number of casualties.
The FRSC Sector Commander however hinted that as at the time of sending this story, he could not ascertain the exact number of casualties,saying “we are still making compilation”.
Also,the Public Relations Officer, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Alhjaii Soladoye Adewole, said “I just got the news not quite long. We have not been able to ascertain the number of deaths, but we have actually recorded some deaths. Our Director of Medical Services and Registrar Mr Ezekiel Fehintola has gone to the scene. We have not been given full details of the incident”.
