The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, on Friday has tasked Kauru Local Government Area to take up the responsibilities to encourage themselves towards access to health and education.

Dr. Hadiza Balarabe expressed this at  the launch of Human Capacity Building through Advocacy and Sensitization (Human CABAS) Initiative held in Kauru Local Government Area,  Kaduna State.

The project is a joint initiative of the State Human Capital Development Council and some stakeholders from Kauru Local Government Area that are using sensitization and advocacy to advance Human Capital Development across the Local Government Area.

The Deputy Governor  said,  “I thank God for the opportunity given to me to be in Kauru Local Government Area to launch a programme that will further enhance the development of human capital, you all know what is happening in the country.”

She pointed out that there is a direct correlation between human capital development and economic growth, which is why Kaduna State Government is investing in education, health, talent development, skills acquisition and economic empowerment.

She explained that in human development index, out of 189 countries NIgeria  is ranked 161, beating  only 28 countries.

She noted that, “we are desirous of having a human capital that will ensure that the economy not only in Kauru Local Government Area, but the whole local government areas and the  state improve.

“What we are doing is to provide information,  increase the knowledge on what human capital is doing, advocate to leaders of thought  that they can support this programme and also sensitise the generality of our people.

“This will enable them accept this  programme to be able to build themselves to acquire skills, get knowledge, get health not now, but in the nearest future.”

Speaking on the economic state of Kauru Local Government Area, she said some years ago, Kauru was the least in  education.
“They were backwards, in health we were also backwards, they were not too good in basic infrastructure, they are also backwards, that is why we’re taking up this programme, so that they can  take up the responsibility to encourage themselves to access health, utilize health.”

She urged the people of  Kauru to run the programmes seriously, so that other local government areas can go there to learn from them.
The deputy governor was accompanied by the Commissioner of Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba, alongside senior government officials, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders.
