Residents of Kargi Road in Tudun Wada, Kaduna were on Monday thrown into confusion as a result of the death of a young lad, 14 year old Zakariya Adamu in the custody of a local vigilantee named “Yan Kato da Gora” in the area.
Eyewitnesses said the boy was arrested by the vigilante who were mostly youths at Government Girls Secondary School Unguwar Ma’azu around 4pm.
His family alleged that late Zakariya was tied with rope and tortured to dead by the group.
The vigilantee group were operating in the community to help fight crimes in the area.
Late Zakariya’s elder brother Baba Adamu narrated to New Nigerian how the incident occurred.
“He was just a young lad and only went to the school to play when they arrested him and took him away to their office at Unguwar Ma’azu. When I received a call from another younger brother of mine that Zakariya has been arrested by Kato da Gora I went straight to their office to see him.
“I saw him on the floor, his hands tied with a rope. He was just there motionless as if he was sleeping. Few minutes later their Commander came and asked what happened to the boy. The members of the group I met at the office told him that they beat him up,” he said.
He further added that the late Zakariya  was confirmed dead after been rushed to a private hospital called Al-Amin by the group when all effort to resuscitate him in their office failed.
Baba Adamu appealed to the Police authority and Governor Nasir El-Rufai to come to their rescue by ensuring that those involved in the alleged killing face the wrath of the law.
“We will not rest until we see all those responsible for my younger brother’s dead get punished. All we want from the government and Police is justice,” he said.
Zakaraya before his dead was a junior secondary student of Government Secondary School Kargi, Tudun Wada.
