The Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congres (NLC) has embarked on three days warning strike over illegal deduction of workers salary and non payment of teachers and local government staff salary.
The notice of the warning strike action was contained in a bulletin issued and circulated to the members of the congress in the state Wednesday in Jalingo.
The bulletin which was signed by Secretaries of the Congress and Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Solomon Obaje and Comrade Tukur Taji and copy made available to newsmen directed all civil servants to remain at home and await further directives.
In an interview, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Peter Gambo said they are embarking on the warning strike to press home their demands.
He said the State Government was insensitive to the suffering of workers and pensioners as it has failed to address non payment of pension, illegal deduction of workers salary as well as non payment of Teachers and local government staff salary.
Comrade Gambo accused Taraba State Government of engaging incompetent consulting firm to handle payment of workers salary.
He said the problem of illegal deduction of workers salary was as a result of the incompetence of the firm handling the payment.
“The consultant just pay what ever they want to workers without issuing pay slip or voucher and uptill now, we as labour we do not know  who were the  consultants are” the labour Chairman said.
He warned that if by the expiration of the warning strike action the government failed to respond, the labour would embark on indefinite strike action.
