The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Usman Abdullahi on Monday  confirmed the killing of three policemen and a woman in the crisis between Ichen and Ndaka people of Kurmi Local Government Council of the state.
According to him, the officers were overpowered by a yet to be identified militia group and killed in Bissaula the headquarters of the local government area.
Mr Jibrin Garba, a leader of Bissaula,  in a statement made available to journalists on Monday in Jalingo, alleged that the militiamen who carried out the attack also killed an elderly woman and destroyed property worth millions of Naira.
Garba also alleged that Ichen people in Bissaula town have come under series of unprovoked, but premeditated attacks by militia despite peace efforts by the government and stakeholders.
“As a peace-loving and law-abiding people, we welcome the Commission of Inquiry set up by  Governor Darius Ishaku with the hope that peace would be restored and we encourage our people who were displaced to return to Bissaula.
“Unfortunately, the  militia struck again and killed three Mobile Policemen who were deployed to restore normalcy and their service rifles were carted away.
“We condemn these attacks and killing of the three policemen and our people by suspected militia and call on the government to investigate the attacks and ensure that the perpetrators and their accomplices are apprehended and the service rifles of the slain policemen recovered.”
