Tambuwal Emerges Zamfara NUJ Correspondent’s Chapel Chairman

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara State Council has elected new officials.

The six newly elected officials of the chapel emerged through consensus with Ishaq Zaki Tambuwal from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as chairman, during its election which took place at the NUJ Secretariat in Gusau.

The new officials of the Correspondent’s Chapel are expected to steer the ship of the Chapel for the following three years, 2024–2027

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of the Chapel, Tambuwal assured of his readiness to work with his executive members to move the chapel forward.

Tambuwal also said the Union under his watch will ensure professionalism in the discharge of their duties and will give a level playing ground for all without discrimination

He appealed to the members to support the leadership in their quest to take the Union to greater heights

On his part, Chairman of the occasion who is a former Permanent Secretary Ibrahim, Alhaji Na’ayi Salihu urged to journalists learn how to criticise their self for better output.

He added that journalists should ensure discipline and keeping to time in everything as anything less gives the profession a bad image.

Tambuwal appealed to the members to support the leadership in their quest to take the Union to greater heights.

“We are proud with the composition of stakeholders present here especially the state leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC).

“This is an indication that Zamfara is a media friendly state”, he added.

In their Seperate remarks, the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Malam Yusuf Idris and Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Haliru Andi described the event as welcome development.

They promised to continue partnering with the Chapel to move the state forward.

The former Commissioner of Information in the State, Alhaji Ibrahim Maigandi Danmalikin Gidangoga urged journalists to develop their skills with modern technology and advancement in journalism profession.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee Comrade Ibrahim Kanoma commended the participants of the occasion.

Kanoma charged the new Chapel’s executives on transparency, accountability as well as unity peace and stability in order to promote peace and stability in the chapel.
