Tunturi Development Association (TDA), a group in Bununu, headquarters of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area in Bauchi state has appealed to President Mohammadu Buhari, and Governor Mohammed Abubakar to caution the Sayawa youth against any breach of law and order in the recuperating communities of the area.
It could be recalled that a Sayawa organization, Zaar Youth Development Association (ZAYODA) had in press briefing last week, protested the alleged appointment of District and Village Heads in the areas by the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.
ZAYODA led by its National Deputy President, Comrade Godiya Haruna said  “we are not in support of the recent appointment of District Heads and Village Heads by the Emir of Bauchi because that will bring or cause disunity among our people”
A press statement in Bauchi signed by the TDA Chairman and Secretary Aliyu Abdullahi and Comrade Mannir Musa Yisin respectively, said “We find it compelling to quickly draw the attention of President Mohammadu Buhari and Governor Mohammed Abubakar to an ongoing ploy by enemies of peace in Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro LGA’s to cause yet another breach of law and order in the crisis prone communities.
It alleged that, “It was reported in one of the National Dailies of February 15, 2016 on page 11 a Sayawa group Zaar Youth Development Association ZAYODA was reported to have openly threatened bloodshed in these recuperating communities, by protesting the action taken by Bauchi Emirate to appoint District Heads in some parts of the local council areas”
TDA said, “We are appealing to Mr. President and the Bauchi State Governor to quickly investigate and caution ZAYODA, to stop them from unleashing another mayhem in the society and to untimely end Sayawa’s regrettable culture of bloodletting that continue to drag our communities to backwardness and hostility”.
According to the association, “This threat must not be seen as empty one in view of Sayawa’s tract record of crisis and of the fact that already in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro communities today, about 16,000 people are as a result living as refugees”.
The Tunturi Development Association attributed past crisis in the area to neglect by those past constituted authorities that enable the miscreants carried out their plans.
The TDA statement noted that such incident would amount to great dis service to the government in particular and generally the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians, if person or persons deliberately create unnecessary bottlenecks, or become a threat just to smear good name of Bauchi State.
The association called on ZAYODA to please end their belligerence and resort to lawful means of channeling grievances to appropriate authorities so that the community will forge ahead in terms of peace and development.
