Synergy among security agencies can aid war against corruption, terrorism – GOC

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Laz Ilo has advocated synergy among security agencies in the fight against corruption and terrorism.
Major General Ilo stated this while receiving into his office the Assistant Comptroller General, Nigerian Immigration Service, zone ‘F’ Ibadan, Mr Mike Longe and the Commissioner, Independent Corrupt Practices and related offences Commission (ICPC) Oyo/Ogun states, Mr Stephen Pimor.
According to the GOC, no agency can fight the corruption and terrorism war alone, saying the two are major hindrance to national development.
He declared that it was glaring that only synergy, information and intelligence sharing that can bring about greater success in the fight against terrorism and corruption.
The GOC while assuring that the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army will continue to partner with other security agencies, at achieving a nation free from corruption and terrorism, lauded the agencies for the display of professionalism.
Speaking further, the GOC pointed out that discipline remained the bedrock of any organization, saying, the agencies should remain focused and not be intimidated by forces of retrogression and destabilization.
In his remark, the Assistant Comptroller General, Nigerian Immigration Service, zone ‘F’ Ibadan, Mr Mike Longe said the challenges posed by migrants constituted a serious threat to the security of nations across the world.
Mr Longe stressed that Nigeria was currently going through a critical period which required closer monitoring of her International borders, to prevent infiltration by undesirable elements.
The Assistant Comptroller General noted that 2 Division occupies a strategic position in the South West geopolitical zone, especially in the areas of border patrol and monitoring.
The Commissioner, Independent Corrupt Practices and related offences Commission (ICPC) Oyo/Ogun states, Mr Stephen Pimor stated that corruption was a threat to national security and that ICPC cannot fight the war against corruption alone.
Mr Pimor added that the war against corrupt practices was an internal security operation.
