No fewer than three people were killed in Ibadan within 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday this week during separate clashes by suspected cultists.
New Nigerian gathered that trouble started on Wednesday night when a 23-year-old man identified as ‘Is Taiwo’ was killed at the Apete by suspected cultists alleged to be members of the Black Axe.
It was learnt that the following day (Thursday night), suspected cultists from the Eiye cult, allegedly attacked and killed two persons identified as Babalola Akeeb and Abiola Adedeji, at Agbaje-Ijokodo junction.
Sources said the late “Is Taiwo” alleged to be a member of Eiye cult group was trailed to a joint popularly known as Akere at Apete before he was attacked and reportedly axed to death.
According to sources in the area, the attackers enveloped the area with sporadic gunshots while dealing with ‘Is Taiwo’, forcing residents in the area to run for safety.
It was gathered that men of the Oyo State Police Command from the Apete Division later arrived the area to restore peace and later moved the ‘Is Taiwo’s corpse to the Oyo State General Hospital mortuary, Yemetu.
New Nigerian learnt further that on the same Thursday night, suspected cultists said to be Eiye cult members allegedly strked again during which they shot and macheted  another Axe member identified as ‘Campus’.
As at the time of sending this report, men of the Oyo State Police Command are mounting surveillance on the area to avert further clash in and across Apete area of Ibadan with Police patrol teams sighted in strategic areas.
