The women of Eastern Obolo in Akwa Ibom State have asked their men to support the Young Progressives Party (YPP), as a condition for lasting peace, love and pleasurable homes.

At the inauguration of the party office in Okoroette on Wednesday, the women said their resolve to back YPP is founded on the belief that the party, with its leaves symbol, will bring refreshing experience to all nooks and crannies of the state.

Their leader, Evangelist Grace Jonathan, who conveyed the women’s position in her goodwill message, added that all the Obolo women will deliver 100 per cent votes in favour of YPP candidates in the 2023 elections.

“We have convinced our husbands, our boyfriends, our brothers and our fathers to support the YPP and they have agreed. So, YPP is the party for Obolo people”, she said.

In his welcome remarks, the chapter chairman, Rev. Mbong  Gideon Alison, had said YPP has all it takes to take Akwa Ibom to greater heights, by addressing the myriads of problems bedeviling the state.

“We are not campaigning, when it is time for campaign, we will inform you of the programmes put in place by the party to rescue our state  from the present woes”, he assured.

Alison thanked the Nyenime Andy-led state exco for taking time to choose the best candidates for the 2023 general elections and assured that all of them will win the various elections.

Andy, state party chairman, who later commissioned the party secretariat said their visit was a complete party affair but not for campaign.

He urged the people to continue registering with the party, assuring that  it was “the fastest growing party in the state”.

Andy then handed over the party register to the chapter chairman of YPP and urged all to always identify with the leaves, the symbol of the party, since they give life.

The Eket Senatorial District candidate of the party, Mkpisong Ephraim Inyangeyen, urged the people of Eastern Obolo to support YPP, to ensure genuine service to the now abandoned masses.

Sir Marcus Enene, on behalf of all the decampees thanked God for bringing a party as better as YPP. He said 1, 080 of them decamped from other parties to YPP in order to support OBA.

“Thank you for choosing Senator Bassey Albert Akpan as our governorship candidate and someone who will be our next Governor. He is the best. Even the opponents know that he is the best”, he added.

Mathias S. Adase,  in his vote of thanks, also assured that they will  support YPP in the 2023 general elections.

He thanked the party for parading the best candidates in all the offices and appreciated the crowd that came out to witness the event.
