The National Leader of Odua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has told the Yoruba nation to stop demonizing his organisation by calling them names only to turn round and seek their support when there is crisis.
Otunba Adams who was the guest Speaker at the 2016 Democracy day organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Ondo State Council urged the Yorubas to appreciate what belongs to them.
According to him, calling Gani Adams hooligan demoralises OPC to live upto expectation when there are security challenges in the South Western part of the country.
When there is security threats, Yorubas will see the relevance of OPC, adding that “in a situation where you destroy our integrity, how do you expect us to defend you?” He queried.
He therefore urged every community leader to find a way of protecting their people and stop seeking the assistance of his organisation any time they have security challenges.
He also pointed accusing finger at the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari over his silence on the herdsmen who are daily terrorizing the innocent peoples and destroying their farm lands.
In a related development, a Non Governmental Organisation, International Society for Poverty Elimination (ISPE), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to find a lasting solution to the menace of herdsmen across the country.
The NGO made the call in an open letter to the President which was circulated to Journalists in Akure urged the President to effectivelly check the activities of the herdsmen before they get out of hand.
The menace, according to the Director General of ISPE, Mr. Lanre Rotimi, underline problems of Agriculture, Security, Development, Peace, Climate Change and Justice among others.
He therefore urged the FG to embark on an organised modern livestock farming that is integral part of New Nigeria Agriculture Revolution capable of generating over N3 trillion annually.
