Zamfara State Government has condemned the call by Senator Kabiru Marafa on the National Assembly to declare a state of emergency in view of the incidents of armed bandits attacks in the state.
The state commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Sanda Danjari  during a press conference in Gusau, said the call by the senator representing Zamfara Central to declare a state of emergency against the Zamfara State government demonstrates in crystal clear term that Senator Marafa is going beyond limit.
“Security challenge remains a global problem. The war in Libya and other African Countries led to the proliferation of weapons in the west Africa sub-region, Nigeria included. Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and Benue are few states affected by armed banditry, castle rustling and kidnapping but none of the senators representing these states indicted their government irrationally,” he said.
Danjari commended the Senate for their outright rejection of the move particularly the Senate President, Bukola Saraki for his statesmanship.
“We have series of challenges that we need Senator Marafa to discuss at the Senate for the interest of the nation rather than turning weapons against the state. His illusion to became the governor of Zamfara States should not make him mad to making undesirable utterances against the state governor. Enough is enough,” he said.
The information commissioner said the state government has since the inception of this administration committed over N15 Billion to improve security situation across the state but unfortunately, despite the billions of Naira injected, the security agencies were not doing what was expected to enhance the situation
Danjari called on Senator Marafa to think twice and henceforth stop such a callous and malicious allegations against the personality of governor, Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar.
“It disheartening for Senator Marafa who is at the senate to protect the interest of people in Zamfara now turns his weapons against the state government and in particular the personality of the state governor,” he said.
