SSANU ABU Zaria Branch Suspends Strike

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria branch has suspended its three months old strike and directed all its members to resume their duty as from Wednesday 7th March, 2018.
Briefing Journalists at the SSANU Secretariat in ABU, the Chairman Comrade Iliyasu Abdulra’uf Bello said, they resolved to suspend the strike after considering that the strike has no direction and lacks purpose.
He said, despite the strike, lectures and other academic and non academic activities have been going on smoothly without any hindrance, this has made the strike a mockery.
According to Comrade Bello, the SSANU/ABU Branch has lost confidence in the national leadership of the association and the communication gap is something that needs urgent attention to address.
The Chairman warned that among them there are some insurgents which he said, they will not take them lightly and also announced the suspension of their six executive members from the association.
Before the press briefing, they had staged a peaceful demonstrations within the university’s premises.
