SSANU ABU suspends Chairman

Comrade I. A Bello has been suspended as Chairman Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) ABU Zaria branch by the National Body of the Association.
The suspension latter dated 20th May 2016 with reference number SSANU/NS/ABU/4/39 read “the NEC meeting held at Michael Imoudu National Institute For Labour Studies Ilorin, Kwara State between 19th -20th May 2016, painstaking considered the report of the three member National Administrative Committee set up to investigate allegation of diversion of branch check off dues and other matters”.
Comrade Bello’s suspension is for three months with effect from 20th May, 2016.
He was directed to handover the affairs of his office to the Vice Chairman, Comrade Shuaibu Halilu Ahmed as contained in a latter dated 23 May 2016 with reference SSANU/NS/ABU/4/40 signed by Comrade G.D.Wogu Principal Asst. General Secretary of SSANU.
“It was after hearing from Comrade Bello on the floor of the NEC Meeting where he did confirmed the diversion of the check off dues from IAR, NAPRI, NAERLS, DAC and CERT that a call for discussion was made as to what division is to be taken and the majority of the NEC members agreed that, Comrade I A Bello be suspended for 3 months and was taken and recorded as such”.
It could be recalled that SSANU, ABU branch has been engrossed in a series of crisis which is affecting the association seriously.
In his brief remark the Acting Chairman Comrade Shu’aibu Halilu Ahmed said it is their collective duty and responsibility not to allow SSANU break up or disintegrate in ABU especially during their tenure.
According to him, SSANU is greater than any individual and the interest of SSANU supersedes other parochial interests.
“It is in the light of this, that we resolved to appeal to the powerful and vibrant members of the Congress to allow us handle the matter objectively to arrive at peaceful resolution of the conflict as litigations and court orders will not give us a solution to the problem”.
