Sports Development: Stakeholders Express Renewed Commitment In Kaduna State

Relevant stakeholders in the sporting sector in Kaduna State have indicated a renewed commitment towards the development of sports in the State.

At a stakeholders meeting convened by Hon. Abubakar Adams Ekene, the former Chairman of Kada city FC and now General Manager of premier league side Remo Stars of Abeakuta basically discussed issues that will bring about a turn around positively in the sports cycle in the State.

Notable names present at the stakeholders meeting which equally had grassroot coaches include, ex- internationals such as Dahiru Sani (MFR), Abubakar Aliyu, Ali Nayara, Tajudeen Oyekanmi, Ishaya Jatau, Dr. Alex Mana among others including the Kaduna State Football Association (FA) Secretary, Abubakar Usman.

At the meeting, challenges which has bedevilled sports growth in Kaduna State were identified and way forward proferred accordingly.

The convener, Hon. Ekene who lamented the deteriorating state of sports in the State particularly football urged all stakeholders present to contribute individually and collectively to reviving sports in Kaduna State.

Towards that, Hon. Ekene gave a cash donation of N500,000:00 to the ex-stars competition which is ongoing in Kaduna, stressing that he is ready to partner with any group or organization that is geared towards sports development in the State and Nigeria in general.

” I am also sponsoring the Mohammed Sani Dattijo peace and unity cup catch them young competition scheduled to start very soon in Kaduna” he said.

Hon. Ekene said the.competition which has mouth watering prizes is in support of the political aspiration of Hon. Dattijo who is the serving Commissioner of Budget and planning commission in Kaduna State.
