Sports: A’Ibom Will Continue To Partner Valuable Private Institutions

Private institutions with value added to the development and growth of the people in any sector of the economy, will continue to enjoy partnership and support from Akwa Ibom State Government.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong stated this yesterday, in Uyo, during the 2023 Annual Inter-House Sports Competition of Monef Kiddies School, Uyo, held at the schools’ premises, Ikot Ebom Itam.

Comrade Ememobong said, as an all inclusive government, private educational institutions with positive contributions to the educational and sporting needs of the state will be embraced and collaborated with for mutually beneficial relationship and gains.  

The State Information helmsman who was represented by the Director of Public Relations in the Ministry, Mrs Grace Akpan, said for over a decade, Monef Schools has proved to be a dependable ally in the development of the education sector of the state.

He commended the Director and Proprietor of the Schools, Dr. Fabian Eshiet, for the excellence academic performance which has placed Akwa Ibom children on top of educational scorecard nationally and internationally.

Ememobong urged the school to interface with the Ministry of Youth and Sports so that the budding athletes and sportsmen groomed by the school can be harnessed and put out for national, international and World games in the nearest future, noting that, Akwa Ibomites are excelling at international sporting competitions and returning home to the State with laurels.

He expressed appreciation to the organisers of the Inter-House Sports competition for the well-planned event, the participating schools for the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited in the competition and the parents for inspiring and motivating their children by turning-up and also engaging in some parts of the games during the Inter-House competition.

“The management of the school, the visiting and participating schools, the parents and indeed all the students and pupils of Monef Schools have done very well. I have watched with keen interest and I must say, I am very impressed with what I am seeing here today. I will relay all to the Honourable Commissioner and I am sure, he will send in a magnificent support”, Mrs. Grace Akpan concluded.

Responding, the Director and Proprietor of Monef Schools, Uyo, Dr. Fabian Eshiet, extended appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong for his kind gesture in sending a representative who he described as “very capable” to stand-in for him and also extended appreciation to the representative of His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ikemesit Ayara for standing-in for him.

Dr. Fabian Eshiet extolled the management and staff of Monef Schools for the magical touch with which they have given to the inter-house competition and thanked them for always standing Monef Schools tall in all activities and competitions because of their excellent performance.

The Inter-House Sports competition  featured matchpast by the 6 different houses, Gala shows and various field and track events, such as: egg and spoon race, filling the bottle, searching the treasure, shuttle picking, relay race, 100meters race, 200meters race as well as 4 × 100 relay race boys/girls.

Highpoints of the event were the presentation of trophies to the winners of the event in the Monef High School category by the representative of the Deputy Governor and those in the Monef Kiddies category by the representative of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong.

The event which was graced by parents and state government officials and school community, saw the Yellow House emerging as the Overall best from Monef Kiddies School and the Purple House emerging the Overall Best from the Monef High school.
