Spectators throng Murtala Square for National Handball matches

By; JACOB ONJEWU DICKSON
As action of the National Open Handball Tournament ongoing in Kaduna enters day-four today, spectators thronged the Murtala Square venue of the tourney to enjoy the games.
A visit by New Nigerian Sports to the venue, showed that spectators thronged all the courts where matches were being played.
At the outdoor courts where three matches were being played simultaneously, it was observed that fans were enjoying games from all the matches, but were attracted more to the court where a female match was being played.
In an interview with one of the spectators, who identified himself as Philibus Dauda, he said he came all the way from Ungwan Dodo, Sabon Tasha to watch the matches.
“I watched some of the yesterday’s (Tuesday) game on TV and was attracted to watch it live and so far, I have not been disappointed,” he said.
A visit to the Umaru Musa Yar ‘Adua Indoor Gymnasium Hall also revealed a match ongoing, but it did not attract much crowd like the outdoor matches.
New Nigerian can authoritatively conclude that the outdoor matches attracted more crowd as a result of the location, visible from the Independence Way, a major highway located in Kaduna’s Central Business District.
