The members of the Delta State Assembly Commission, have been called to uphold the synergy that has been existing between the State House of Assembly, and the commission.
The call was made during the opening of a one-day retreat of members of the commission and management staff by the Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on Monday May 16, 2022 at the African Public Policy Institute, Onitcha-Ugbo.
The Speaker who was represented by his deputy, Rt. Honourable Ochor C. Ochor, reminded the participants that the relationship between the legislature and the commission, had come along way, to the extent that later was recognised in the handbook of the Assembly.
He further encouraged the participants of the benefits of such refresher training, which at the long run will be to the benefit of the people of Delta State.
“The relationship between the Delta State House of Assembly and the Assembly Service Commission has come a long way, as both organisations have been working in synergy for good law making services for our dear state. This relationship has been recognised in the handbook of the Assembly.
“Just recently, to further cement the relationship, the house went a step ahead to enact a law for the independence and autonomy of the Commission, (Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Establishment Bill {HB: 31}). Mr. Chairman, and members of this Commission, we are ready to continue our efforts to compliment the work of the commission and relevance.
“The commission has its work carved out for the smooth management of the staff of the Assembly, their welfare and promotion. As a responsible House, we see this function of the commission as very vital for our dear state.
“We will continue to ensure that the relationship, synergy and patrimonial growth of both organisations is strengthened for a greater Delta State.
“This synergy and relationship is what  necessitated the approval of this retreat for members of the commission, and management staff. We believe this will help to refresh your knowledge on some modern ways of policy administration in an organisation like this.
“I therefore, encourage you to take this retreat serious, be open minded to the instructors who have come to interact with you, so that at the end, you will put it to practice,” he stated.
The theme for the retreat is, “Repositioning the Commission for Optimal Service”.
