A former Commissioner of Science and Technology in Kaduna State, Dr. Muhammad Sani Bello, has called on the good people of the state to imbibe the spirit of togetherness as a guiding principle towards resolving the crises in Southern Kaduna.
“I therefore call on the good people of Kaduna State not to allow what could be resolved to generate into something else.
“The spirit of our togetherness should be our guiding principle towards resolving our differences. Above all, as Christians and Muslims, we should treat this issue as people being guided by the Almighty,” he stressed.
In a statement Dr. Muhammad Sani Bello personally signed and made available to newsmen, he said, “As an indigene of Kaduna State, who shares in the vision of brotherly relationship as the only panacea for a united, peaceful and developed state, l join the concerns of other Nigerians over the lingering ethnic conflict in the Southern part of the state.
“At a time when all hands should be on deck for the state to elvolve all meaningful and sustainable developmental strategies, it is sad that we are in violent conflict over issues that could ordinarily be discussed and resolved amicably.
“It is rather unfortunate that innocent lives are lost and valuable properties wasted with an, attendant breakup of brotherly relationship in a manner that is not in our character and out of tune with the vision of our founding fathers.
“It is a fact that we have lived with each other for centuries and therefore ought to have learned to accommodate, respect and tolerate our divergent views and ideas to foster greater mutual trust while rejecting all divisive tendencies.
“It is time for all sectional, religious, and cultural leaders to engage other critical stakeholders in sincere consultations on finding a lasting solution to the uncalled for crises and restoring peace and harmony.”
He called on people of goodwill in the state to rise to the occasion and ensure peaceful resolution of the crises in Southern Kaduna and a peaceful Kaduna State that is a home to all Nigerians.
