The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Chief Emmanuel Dangaladima and Mr. Eze Paska by unknown gunmen in Gefe village, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
A statement signed by Public Relations Officer of SOKAPU, Josiah Yusuf Abraks, dated Sunday August 10, 2024 said that the attack, which occurred on Saturday morning, also resulted in the kidnapping of 15 persons.
SOKAPU in the statement, appealed to the authorities to intensify efforts for the swift release of the abducted individuals.
“We sympathize with the traumatized families of the victims and general members of the communities,” Abraks said.
“We pray for successes in the efforts to secure the release of those kidnapped.” He added.
The union said it believes the attacks aim to distract Senator Uba Sani and undermine the progress made in security by the Federal and Kaduna State governments.
” SOKAPU urges the governments to address the root causes of these attacks and ensure the safety of citizens.
“The kidnapped victims include Happy Bitrus, Fenedic Bitrus, Regina Arewa, Mary Joshua, Joy Joshua, Miller Ezra, Mattis Stephen, Olever Stephen, Monday Iliya, Florence Oliver, Blessing Maidoki, Mrs. Ezeh Paska, Beatrice Saleh, Bihari Mallam, and Ado Onomai,” it said.
It informed that in a related incident, the village head of Barga community in Awon ward of Kachia Local Government Area was kidnapped alongside others, while houses and property were destroyed.

“The southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) under the leadership of Engr.Tabara Samuel Kato expresses it’s solidarity to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State Distinguished Sanator Uba Sani for his noticeable commitment to work hand in hand with various ethnic/ Socio- cultural groups and the youth of the state towards promoting peace, unity and harmony amongst all shades of citizens of the state.
“SOKAPU leadership is thankful to the Governor for his proactive approach and steps to avert the further unwanton killings of innocent lives and destruction of properties experienced during the protests within the state, which necessitated introduction of 24 hours curfew.
“The SOKAPU leadership is hereby encouraging Governor Uba Sani administration and the state’s security agencies not to relent in it’s efforts at ensuring that Kaduna state remain peaceful, and people can go about their normal daily life without the fear of harassment, molestation and intimidations that often characterise protests,” it said.
The statement added that government’s timely review of the curfew’s restrictions is quite humane and appreciable as it gave some measures of relief to all and sundry in the state.
“However, the security agencies are encouraged to redouble their efforts and remain vigilant to ensure that law and order is being maintained at all times in the state,” it advised.
