Social intervention project in Bauchi records tremendous successes

Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor on Development Partners and Non-governmental organizations, Mansur Manu Soro has said that the Social Intervention Project in the state recorded tremendous achievements within the past few months.
Alhaji Mansur Soro hinged the achievements so far recorded on the project to the desire by the Bauchi state government to optimally exhaust its enrolment quarter of the project, partner with various stakeholders and provide free e-registration centres across the state.
Soro, also the state focal person on SIP told a press conference in Bauchi Wednesday that the development is in line with the fervent desire of the state government to emancipate the poor people of the state from the shackles of poverty and improve their living conditions.
He disclosed that SIP has recorded 10, 107 enrolments in 10 Free ICT Registration centres through the state government’s collaboration with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi with 1, 350 enrolments and Giwo Science Academy 2, 700 enrolments.
Others, he outlined, are Government Secondary School, Toro – 1, 120; College of Education, .Azare – 1, 076; Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) Bauchi – 950; Centre for Information Technology and development (CITAD) – 862, and Dan Atago, Ningi 676 enrolments.
Also in the achievements recorded are the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi – 650 enrolments; College for Legal and Islamic Studies (CLIS), Misau -450, and Bauchi State Universities, Gadau 265 enrolments.
The Special Adviser reiterated the commitment of Bauchi state government to support and actualize the successful implementation of the social intervention project in the state.
It would be recalled that the Federal has in its 2016 budget earmarked the sum of half trillion naira for the Social Intervention Project (SIP), a combination of several well thought out programs targeted at extremely poor, vulnerable and the needy among Nigerians.
The project encompasses the creation of 600, 000 Graduates, HND, NCE, Diploma holders and Artisans; Feeding of 5.5 million primary school pupils with locally produced food, and National Cash Transfer intended to pay N5, 000 each to million poor households, among others.
