Shi’ite-Military clash: Headquarters, residence of Alzazaky demolished

Headquarters of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Zaria popularly known as “HUSSAINIYA” has been demolished and Sheikh Ibrahim Alzazaky’s residents at Gyallesu was also demolished by the military today.
Also affected by the demolition is the movement special grave yard at Dambo along Jo’s Road.
The operation is still ongoing at the time of filling this report as military operations has been intensified by cordoning off Gyallesu area and the Headquarters of the movement along Sokoto road in Sabon Gari Local Government Area.
Following the incident, all residents around Sheikh Zazzaky’s resident were asked to vacate the area by the military in order to have a successful operation.
Sources close to the Shiite family said some members of the sect were killed during the operations at both the headquarters and Zazaky’s residence. Chief among them was the second in Command to Zazaky; Sheik Turi who is Kano based.
It could be recalled that on Saturday the Chief of Army Staff was attacked by members suspected be from Shi’ite group as he was enroute DEPOT Nigeria Army for the Passing Out Parade of the 73 Regular Recruits Intake.
