Senator Gershom Bassey: A Quiet Achiever

The Senator representing Southern Senatoral District in Cross River State in the Red Chambers, Senator Gershom Bassey, has every reason to beat his chest as a quiet and silent achiever in the past three years.
In a well and detailed scorecard presented to members of his constituency and  made available to the media, it is clearly obvious that Senator Bassey is truly a silent and quiet achiever.
From Bakassi to Biase covering the Seven local government areas in his jurisdiction,  Senator Gershom Bassey has clearly shown that there is no community or ward that he has not touched in terms of the citing of projects.
On road projects, he had contributed to rehabilitation of Calabar-Idundy urban road, Calabar/Atimbo/Ikang, Calabar/Bisae and Calabar/Akamkpa/Biase/Asigha road.
Also, he had made strong representations on the East/West road and the Calabar/Lagos rail line as well as attracted irrigation projects at Eniong in Odupkani local government area of the state.
On school projects, Gershom Bassey, had carried out construction of several classroom blocks, furnishing of schools, rennovation of school libraries and provision of boreholes in Biase, Odukpani and other local government areas just to mention but a few.
Bassey during the period under review had equipped primary health care centres in Uwat, Biase, Akamkpa and Calabar South local government areas of the state.
He had also empowered several youths and women across the seven senatoral district through capacity building.
During this period also, he had provided 18 seater bus to the less privileged, one each to 18 women groups in his domain as well as provided  18 generators and 10 grinding machines to them too.
On employment, the score card showed that over 200 names are awaiting employment while 17 persons have already secured jobs in the various MDAs.
The document also said that six persons are already benefitting from his scholarship award.
Senator Gershom Bassey is the vice chairman, Upstream Petroleum Committee as well as member of various subcommittees of the Senate.
