Senator Danjuma Laah, the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, has donated Hospital equipments  worth two hundred  million Naira (200,000000) to 39 Primary Health Care (PHCs) Centres  in his Zone in a modest ceremony witnessed by mainly health workers, his aides, friends, and  a small group of observers.
The equipments were brought to Turaki Buga Memorial Hospital, Kpak Kagora, in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State in three trailers with the first consignments arriving December, last year, according to Mr. Bala  Gideon Duniya, one  of the Legislative aide of the Senator.
Each of the benefiting PHCs had 72 items, which  included, hospital beds with mattresses, dressing trolleys, binocular microscopes, kidneys dishes, Medium size refrigerators, a generating set, a motorcycle,  delivery couches with stirrups, Suture kits, diagnostic sets, autoclaves, fire extinguishers, nursery cots among others.
Speakin at the occasion, Laah said he was impatient with the slow delivery of campaign promises by both the state and Federal Government and, as such, made the quick intervention in the face of dwindling health facilities in his zone.‎
He said: “I am happy to be here today, and to see that those who are concerned with handling these equipments are already on ground.
“These Hospital equipments are purchased through my personal funds and in collaboration with the National Assembly, and some private persons who share my concern for my people.
“It was not an easy struggle to raise this money, especially from the side of the National Assembly, but I thank God, that we finally did.
“I want you to please make good use of these equipments and take care of them as if they are your personal property. The N200 million spent to procure them could have been diverted into some personal use by me, but I thought that I should contribute my share in the area of Health, as I am doing in education, youth empowerment among other things which many of you already know.  This is because it is said that ‘health is wealth’. I am not sure when, or if at all promises made to improve small government clinics will be met. That is why I said that I cannot keep waiting while these clinics are suffering from poor equipments.
“Very soon, God willing, I shall bring in drugs to them. I am already working on that.
“This, as you all know, is besides my primary role as a lawmaker and in my oversight functions, which I am also taking very seriously. It has been in my nature to assist my community quietly in matters like this”, he said.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Mr. Emmanuel Gwazah, of Zamandabo PHC, Zangon Kataf LGA, thanked the Senator for the donation, saying the equipment were critical hardware they had been longing for.
He said: “I want to thank Senator Danjuma Laah for this kindness. These equipments are very important and very crucial in our work, and we have been praying for this day. I want to assure the Senator that we shall make the best uses of this brand new equipments and he can come anytime and verify. May God guide you in his wisdom the more”, he said.
