Over 300 youth are set to receive training  within the next two weeks under the the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) skills acquisition programmes in a  continuous attempt to encourage self reliance and a better future for youth in Kaduna State.
Area Manager of the ITF in kaduna, Alhaji Yahaya Manu who was speaking to the Executive Members of Nigeria Union of Journalists while on a courtesy visit in his office explained that Journalists will henceforth benefit from the Skills Acquisition Programs of the Industrial Training Fund towards improving their livelihood before and after retirement.
He said the ITF has standard training programmes that are geared towards reducing unemployment poverty and Youths restiveness adding that slots will be allocated to the NUJ members.
“In our Skills Department Programs we can give you slots to participate when you are ready. We can also train journalists in the field of Public Relations, when you are ready, get in touch with us on that aspect.
Alhaji Yahaya Manu mentioned some of the skills acquisition programs to include, solar installation, event management, catering, fabrication and beauty care.
The Area Manager also urged the NUJ to sanitized the profession by purging themselves of quacks.
” Each time we invite journalists to cover our events, we see 30 or 40 people even though we did not invite many of them, and when you ask of their medium they will mention a name you have not heard of therefore, the NUJ needs to get rid of quacks in  the profession”.
In a message, the NUJ chairman Comrade Adamu Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the lined up of programmes by the ITF stressing that the union put in place mechanisms to sanitize the profession.
Comrade Adamu emphasized that the need for the NUJ to collaborate with ITF was very important for members to acquire some skills outside the profession for a better future.
The ITF was established by Federal Government in 1971 to promote, accelerate and encourage the acquisition of indigenous skills required in industry and commerce to meet the developmental needs of Nigeria.
