Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase has commissioned 107 security patrol vehicles and 230 bullet proof jackets procured by Kaduna State Government to combat crime in the state.
The State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has earlier explained the rigor the statement went through to form security partnership to enhance effective security agencies vis-a-vis the federal government’s efforts.
IG Arase reminded the guests in attendance that the security of lives and property remain the sole responsibility of government hence the need for other state governments to emulate Kaduna, quickly added that corporate organizations can also support government as issue of general security is a joint responsibility.
The Police boss however directed the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the item, saying to whom much is given, much is expected.
“Any nation desirous of security of the citizens must therefore as matter of necessity enhance the capacity of security agencies as been demonstrated here today by governor El-rufai.
“I can assure you that the huge investment in procurement of this security item will be effectively used. With this gesture, you have assured us that you indeed committed to the security of Kaduna state.
“You have demonstrated symbol of exceptional leadership and we are assuring the good people of the state that to whom much is given, much is expected.”
However, Governor El-Rufai said through collaboration with federal government, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto, have provided funds to flush out security threats out of the state.
He appealed to federal government to send more Policemen to the state, saying the state is currently having about 13,000 policemen, urging the FG to give the state additional 7,000 policemen in the upcoming recruitment.
