School Renovation: Gov Sani Bello Frowns At Contractors’s Shoddy Work

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has told the contractor handling the renovation work at the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Kontagora to sit up or have his contract terminated.
Governor Bello who has been on inspection tour of projects in Kontagora as part of his ongoing state wide visit to council areas, warned that his administration will not condone indolence and pranks amongst contractors who after winning contracts from government, abandoned the projects and flee.
He said for no reason should standards be compromised in all contracts awarded by the state government adding that government attaches tremendous importance to all contracts it has given out for execution saying it would therefore not tolerate any shabby work from any contractor.
While at the Government Girls Secondary School, Tungan Magajiya, Governor Bello directed that all officers in charge of food in boarding schools in all public schools be promptly replaced.
He lamented such officers reposed with the responsibility of ensuring that students receive daily rations have been abusing their privillaged positions to the detriment of the hapless students.
“Our students are not animals. By the way, even animals should be fed better not like this, I will not tolerate such inhumane treatment, especially to students” he said angrily after seeing the appalling feeding conditions of the students at the school.
Earlier, the Governor was at the Palace of the Sarkin Sudan Kontagora where he assured the Emir, Alh. Saudi Namaska that there was no plan at stopping the School of Nursing, Kontagora.
He said his administration would rather establish more of such institutions in parts of the state given the availability of resources.
