Attempts by the outgoing Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun MIMIKO to lure the Members of the State House of Assembly to pass 38 bills into law met a brick wall.
A standoff has ensued between Governor Olusegun Mimiko and members of the Ondo State House of Assembly over 38 new bills sent to the Assembly by the governor.
The 38 new bills, which cover some of the activities, finances and policies of the govt in recent years, were sent to the lawmakers to pass into law before the end of the tenure of the governor.
The governor’s tenure ends on February 23, 2017 while Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC takes over on 24th.
However, in a Parliament meeting held by the lawmakers Monday at the Assembly Complex, the decision to step down action on the bills was agreed upon.
New Nigerian  gathered that the lawmakers have given a condition under which they will consider passing the 38 bills into law.
The condition is for the governor to pay their outstanding entitlements to the tune of N5m per Member.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Jumoke Akindele and the Majority Leader, Hon. Dayo Akinsoyinu, were mandated by the lawmakers to pass the message to the governor.
The lawmakers had been grumbling since 2015 as the governor refused to meet some of their demands and entitlements.
The Assembly is currently made up of 21 PDP members and 5 APC members.
